Jakko van Ingen, MD, PhD
Dr. Jakko van Ingen is Clinical Microbiology Resident in the Department of Medical Microbiology at Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Center in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. In 2009, he obtained a “cum laude” PhD degree, after successful defense of his thesis entitled “Nontuberculous mycobacteria: From gene sequences to clinical relevance,” at the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He has more than 100 articles in international peer-reviewed medical journals and eight book chapters on mycobacterial disease. He is the Study Coordinator for the NTM-NET, a worldwide network of clinicians and scientists devoted to improving understanding of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease and to developing effective treatment and positive outcomes of these infections. He is currently involved in a promising study with Insmed, Inc. for the development of a new NTM treatment modality.Professor Peter Davies is a Consultant Chest Physician at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital in Liverpool, England. His primary area of practice is chest medicine with special clinical and research interests in tuberculosis and mycobacterial diseases. He serves as Secretary for TB Alert, the United Kingdom’s only TB charity. Professor Davies has over 120 peer reviewed papers and is the lead editor of the text, Clinical Tuberculosis, now in its fourth edition.
