The Bagpiping People: Selected Short Stories
Douglas Dunn is one of the major poets of our time and, also, a master of the short story.
In these stories of village life, amid secrets and hidden desires, Dunn captures the character and personality of contemporary Scotland, the bonds and tensions of its communities and the possibility of righting the wrongs of the past.
Douglas Dunn
Douglas Dunn was born in 1942 in Renfrewshire. His first correction of poetry, Terry Street, was published in 1969 and in 1985 Dunn won the Whitbread Book of the Year for Elegies and became Professor of English Literature at St Andrews University in 1991. Among his collections of poetry are St Kilda’s Parliament and Dante’s Drum Kit. He has also edited The Faber Book of Twentieth-Century Scottish Poetry.
