Henry Raeburn and His Printmakers

Marking the 250th anniversary of Raeburn’s birth in Edinburgh, this book features twenty-four of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery’s finest prints after Raeburn’s oil portraiture, including mezzotints and line engravings by outstanding printmakers such as William Walker, Charles Turner, John Beugo and William Sharp. These works will be joined by three of Edinburgh University’s finest Raeburn portraits in oil, including Professors William Robertson, Adam Ferguson and John Robison. The Royal Scottish Academy will also lend fascinating Raeburn memorabilia, including the artist’s sitters’ chair, his easel and his palette.
