Let the Empire Down
Alexandra Oliver
“An incredible feat of vision and voice …technically, nothing is out of Oliver’s grasp. Her go-to iambic pentameter can swallow anything in its path.”–The National Post Alexandra Oliver takes us on a journey of escape from the suburbs of North America to Glasgow, Scotland. Training her eye on the locals–on the streets, by rivers, in museums, in playgrounds–Oliver reflects on issues of escape, exile, and memory. Alexandra Oliver was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her last book, Meeting the Tormentors in Safeway (Biblioasis 2013), was the recipient of the 2014 Pat Lowther award. She lives in Burlington, Ontario.
