Pryde’s Rock

Northumberland, 1803: Matthew Pryde, a young engineer, is sent to the small coastal village of Onswick to survey an offshore island, known locally as the Black Corbie, and persuade the local landowner that a lighthouse must be built to prevent the high number of fatal shipwrecks that occur there. However, after suffering violence and intimidation, Matthew realizes that the locals are deeply against the project. Finding himself suddenly on a personal search to discover more about his own mysterious childhood, Matthew is determined to succeed in both the professional and personal tasks set before him. He finds himself strangely attracted to the mysterious and beautiful Grace Fenwick, daughter of the local landowner, but when this leads to a duel with an old adversary, Matthew is sure that all is at a loss and the truth will never be told…
