Scotland Connected: The History of Scotland, England and the World at a Glance
This is a book that makes sense of the complexities of Scottish history in an insightful way, at a glance. Anna Groundwater has long experience of dealing with British, foreign and Scottish students, of all ages, who are bewildered by the huge task of trying to reconcile the development of Scotland as a nation with what they know of global history. Over time she has developed a way of presenting Scottish history, within a simple framework of dates, which students find helpful.

DR ANNA GROUNDWATER currently lectures in early modern Scottish and British History at the University of Edinburgh, where she is Co-ordinator for Graduate Training in History. She is the author of several publications on Scottish history including within the popular history magazine History Scotland, and acts as a consultant to TV history programmes, appearances including on the BBC series Scotland’s Clans. Her recent research includes work on a recent-ly discovered manuscript account of the celebrated Jacobean playwright Ben Jonson’s epic walk to Scotland in 1618, to be published shortly.
