Eddie Palmer is a canoeist of 45 years’ experience. He has paddled extensively in Europe as well as the USA and Africa, and has sampled virtually all of the canoeing disciplines, having had an early career in slalom and white water racing. Currently he is a leading UK open canoe sailor. He has been on canoe camping expeditions in northern Europe, USA and Canada and, since moving to Scotland from the north of England 10 years ago, has paddled many waters in Scotland, those experiences providing much of the material in this guidebook. Eddie was also a leading figure promoting access in N.E. England, contributing to the Tyne Agreement, and the Tyne Tour rally, and was Northern Region BCU Chairman. His interests are in travelling by canoe and kayak, supporting the Open Canoe Sailing Group, and in environmental and wildlife issues.
