The Island Pilgrimage

Margaret has a precious, delicate friendship with Brian, the minister of her church. But when they take a group of teenagers to the Hebrides, their relationship crosses a dangerous threshold. As they rehearse a musical about St Columba on his island, the barrier between the spiritual and the physical is breached. Are their spouses right to react jealously? And what must Margaret and Brian do to keep their own integrity? Back home, Margaret’s troubled decision to support a foreign student through an abortion goes disastrously wrong. Yet, astonishingly, her awakened relationship with the teenagers has been transformed. Even her own son sees her differently now. If Brian leaves, all this could end. But dare she let him stay, so close to her?
