David Grant is left home alone in an idyllic village in the ArdeÌ€che while his French wife goes on a Buddhist retreat in Paris. He decides to take a short trip himself, across France and back to the UK. It becomes a fitful odyssey that leads eventually to his home town of Edinburgh, where he finds some ghosts of the past.
