Belle Media
Belle Media is based in Glasgow.
Our first book was a social history of the Clyde, Hurricane Hutch’s Top 10 Ships of the Clyde. This led to our first picture book series The Adventures of Captain Bobo and the launch of children’s imprint Belle Kids. Our interest in publishing children’s books in Gaelic started with Captain Bobo as we looked for a way to honour the legacy of Western Isles’ seafarers who featured in our books. We publish in Gaelic as well as English and are developing our list with Gaelic translations of classic titles, including Paddington, Mog and The Little Prince (Am Prionnsa Beag).
Other titles, include the conservation-themed children’s adventure series for older children Tigeropolis, and the adult memoir, My Life in 37 Therapies.
In 2024 we were shortlisted in the Gaelic Literature Awards.
We produce award-winning audio content, working with artists such as Bill Paterson, John Sessions, Ashwika Kapur and Richard E Grant. Three of our books have been adapted for radio, BBC Alba produced two programmes on our Paddington books, and in 2023 we won the IPG Independent Publishing Audio Award.
