Nort Atlantik Drift: Poyims Ati’ Shaetlin
Robert Alan Jamieson
“Nort Atlantik Drift” is a beautiful collection of photographs depicting Shetland’s many faces: remote, timeless, moving and wild. The touching tale of a young boy’s dreams and ambitions to become a sailor is illustrated through a sequence of images and accompanying poetry. The poems, written in the native dialect, Shaetlin, and also accompanied in translation in English, explore and enhance the visual impact of this stunning book. This book is not just the autobiographical story of one islander but a chronicle of the passing of a unique way of life in Shetland.
