From Sandi Toksvig herself:’I have thought long and hard about writing an autobiography but never felt entirely comfortable with just sitting down and writing about my life. I’m not a great naval gazer nor someone who wants to look at the past in a traditional chronological, ‘and then what happened’ sort of way. But then an idea drove past: the number12 bus. I like journeys on public transport. I like them enough to want to go on the number 12 even if it is not heading somewhere immediately useful. I am a passionate advocate of travel believing it to be life enhancing and I also believe that some of the greatest trips lie on our own doorstep. So my trip will be part memoir, part diary, part travelogue and history all from the top of a double-decker.’
