Ursula’s Secret
Mairi Wilson
Lexy Shaw has been lied to all her life by the people she loved best. When her mother, Isobel, is killed in a hit-and-run, Lexy believes she is alone in the world. But only days later, Isobel’s childhood guardian, Ursula, also passes away – and leaves behind an unsettling clue that makes Lexy question everything she thought she knew. Does she have a secret family? Journeying from chilly Edinburgh to sunbaked Malawi to investigate, Lexy uncovers a story of love, deceit and loyalty spanning three generations – but to discover the truth about who she really is, she must put her own life at risk.
Mairi Wilson
Mairi Wilson was born in Scotland but brought up in England, Turkey, Denmark and Spain. She now divides her time between Edinburgh and Ullapool, and continues to travek further afield when she can. She has worked in marketing and education but now works part-time in a card and gift shop to stay in touch with the real world while she writes about imaginary ones. Honeybirds, winner of the Sunday Mail Fiction Prize, is her first completed novel, and her second is already well underway. Her poems and short stories have appeared in publications such as Gutter, Writers’ Forum and Pushing out the Boat, as well as online, on local radio and in performance at Edinburgh and other festivals.
