Timorous Beasties: Tiole Tales

By Steven Richardson

‘Let the wren rant and rave; it won’t notice that you are not joining in.’

When Timorous Beasties rocked the world of interiors with their subversive London, Glasgow and Edinburgh toiles, a new genre of visual storytelling was born. Now, in collaboration with writer Steven Richardson, the studio turns its hand to the fabric of literature.

Part book, part object, part cabinet of curiosities, Toile Tales is an imaginarium designed for the sheer pleasure of gazing and reading. Steven Richardson spins a captivating collection of modern fables, allegories and myths in response to twenty-one toiles illustrated exquisitely by Timorous Beasties co-founder Paul Simmons. This intricate play between toile and tale is a book of our times.
