Fieldsports Press

Fieldsports Press are a specialist independent publisher producing country pursuits related periodicals and books.

Edinburgh-based couple Simon and Selena Barr established Fieldsports Press in 2018 after they acquired Fieldsports from BPG Media. Having worked on rival magazines for the past decade, the pair set about overhauling the look and feel of the 15-year old title. In 2019, a new title called Gundog Journal was launched for anyone who works, owns or simply has an interest in working gundog breeds. Following unprecedented demand in its first three issues, the start-up title moved from quarterly to bi-monthly in November 2019, after just eight months.

In 2022, Fieldsports Press acquired five more titles from Archant – Sporting ShooterRifle ShooterClay ShooterAirgun World and Air Gunner. As well as publishing special interest publications, the team also produce books, show guides and brochures for events and shows.

In a sector where every special interest title was owned by one of the behemoth publishers that focused on saving costs by reducing pagination and paper quality as well as lowering editorial budgets – Fieldsports Press has invested heavily believing there was a vacuum for high quality publications that surpassed anything currently on the market.
